Ryan Johnson

Ryan, a lighting designer and entrepreneur, is keenly attuned to each element that makes up the art of light. He has always been passionate about finding creative solutions through design to improve people’s lives.

From his childhood, he had an eye for detail and a knack for engineering. Growing up in Washington State, Ryan developed a strong passion for sustainable design principles which is showcased in his work today. His passion for natural materials led him to explore new methods of traditional woodworking technique while being inspired by Scandinavian design and contemporary forms. His appreciation for Nordic styling permeates his works, adding an earthy, minimalistic touch that stands out with its luminous effects.

In 2020, he established Nörska as a way to apply his creative skills melding the best of traditional techniques with modern lighting innovations and zero-waste production processes. As Lead Designer at Nörska, Ryan has created unique lighting products that are aesthetically appealing and utilize sustainable design practices.

His tenacious spirit encourages designers to be bolder in their work yet remain mindful of their impact on the world around them. Through education, design, and manufacturing process refinement, Ryan’s diverse skill set enables him to create beautiful works from sustainably sourced materials – making every product uniquely stunning with an ecological conscience in mind.
