All of our lighting fixtures are designed to be fully dimmable, and we rigorously test them with top-tier dimmer brands to ensure exceptional performance and reliability.
Dimming used to be straightforward—incandescent bulbs paired effortlessly with traditional dimmers. However, in the last two decades, the transition to LED lighting has introduced complexity, as these advanced technologies require compatibility across a wide range of products. At Nörska, we’re committed to simplifying this process by delivering lighting solutions that seamlessly integrate into modern dimming systems while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Our lighting fixtures are fully compatible with TRIAC phase-cut dimming units, ensuring smooth and reliable performance. Additionally, select products offer smart compatibility via Bluetooth or WiFi protocols, providing seamless integration with modern smart home systems.
Recommended Dimmers
Lutron Diva: A customer favorite, they offer a smooth and reliable dimming function yielding great control. Offered in all dimming types and a variety of finish options, along with a timeless paddle switch design.
Leviton Decora: Offered in an assortment of dimming types and finish options, these dimmers have also proven a great companion to our fixtures.
SMD: Surface mounted diodes (SMD) are a type of LED that surface mounts each individual LED diode to an aluminum substrate. Benefits of SMD are greater brightness and less power consumption than conventional LED types. You will find the greatest lumen output with this type of LED. One potential downside to this form is the light density. Each diode is evenly spaced, which on very low light settings can cause each individual dot of light to become detectable. We alleviate this issue by increasing the LED density to no lower than 128led/m and utilizing a light diffuser between the diodes and the finished space.
COB: Chip on Board (COB) is a type of LED that is in direct contact with a substrate such as silicon carbide or sapphire. It is the latest LED technology offering an assortment of benefits including much higher density of LED array, slightly increased efficiency, and longevity. The main downside to COB is decreased lumen output compared to SMD with similar wattage.
Diffuser: To spread and soften the light cast of each LED diode, all our fixtures will come with a diffuser. Our standard diffuser appearance is an opaque matte finish, providing great results in blending the light cast. Alternatively, we offer a black finish diffuser. Black diffusers slightly decrease the lumen output of the fixture while causing zero color distortion. The main attracting factor for a black diffuser is purely aesthetic.
Color Rendering Index (CRI): CRI is the measurement of how light affects how you see color. A perfect score is 100, which is comparable to light emitted from the sun. Standard light bulbs have a CRI of 80 which causes some distortion in color though is deemed acceptable.
Every Nörska fixture comes with a CRI of 95+, reflecting the best quality in color render available on the market today.
Color Temperature: Kelvin is the measurement of the color temperature of light. Household spaces commonly use light temperatures in the 2700-4000K range. We offer 2700K , 3000K as they are the most commonly used. Additional color temps are available upon request.
Find additional information on choosing the right light temperature on our BLOG post here.
Brightness: Lumens measure the amount of light you receive out of a light fixture (or brightness). The higher the lumen number the higher the brightness. Lumen output will depend on the length and configuration of your fixture. Our linear fixtures have a common lumen output of 1320 lm/m (402 lm/ft).
VAC (Voltage) input: Our fixtures are compatible with 100-277VAC to accommodate US domestic and international orders. We tailor the fixture to the receiving customer’s electrical requirements. Low voltage 24VDC variants of some products are also available.
Understanding how your fixture will mount is essential to ordering the right options. Your install situation will largely dictate the mounting options available to you. Some fixtures require special electrical preparation to ensure correct mounting. We recommend reading through our installation instructions with your installer to prepare for delivery day. Below you will find information on each mounting type shown on the product pages:
Cups: 125mm (4.92″) diameter disks designed to universally mount on standard junction boxes. With this mounting style the junction box will need to be specifically mounted in line with one of the suspension wires of the fixture. If this is not possible, we offer custom wire spacing to align the suspension wires with the location of your junction box. The second cup is used for suspension only and can mount directly to the ceiling surface or a second junction box. With this style of mounting the LED driver is located either in the light body itself, or remotely mounted.
Canopy: Wood canopies are made from the same hand selected piece of hardwood as your fixture. Designed specifically for situations with central junction boxes, this mounting option serves a dual purpose. First it provides an avenue for the wiring to route from the central junction box to the fixture. Second, providing an aesthetic termination of the suspension wires, pairing the fixture body nicely to the mounting surface. With this style of mounting the LED driver is housed in the body of the canopy.
Surface: Designed to mount over standard junction boxes, this style of mounting is used primarily for our wall and ceiling sconce line of fixtures. Anchored over the junction box, and fastened to the mounting surface with provided hardware, this mounting style works with a wide range of electrical applications. Compatible with single and double gang junction boxes, along with no junction box at all.
