Our hardwood range is available in a variety of solid wood species. Sourced from natural grown American timber and processed in American sawmills, we meticulously hand select each piece of timber before starting a new piece. Through naturally enhancing the innate beauty of the wood, each design delivers one-of-a-kind appearance.
Wood Types
Black Walnut (Juglans nigra)
Black Walnut is a favorite among designers and artisans for its rich, deep tones and stunning grain patterns. Native to the eastern regions of North America, this medium to large hardwood is most recognized for its chocolate-brown heartwood. The lighter sapwood provides creamy blonde accents that beautifully complement the darker tones, adding depth and complexity to each piece. Occasionally featuring wavy or curly grains, Black Walnut exudes timeless elegance and sophistication, making it an ideal choice for spaces that require a bold yet refined aesthetic.
American Ash (Fraxinus)
Light, smooth, and consistent, American Ash has a storied history and symbolic significance. With its straight grain and soft beige-to-light-brown tones, Ash offers a refined and uniform appearance. Native to the East Coast of America and Canada, this hardwood’s consistent coloring between its heartwood and sapwood makes it a versatile choice for both minimalist and statement-making designs. Its connection to Norse mythology and history as “The World Tree” adds a touch of mystique to this enduring species.
White Oak (Quercus alba)
Renowned for its strength and versatility, White Oak is a classic American hardwood known for its straight grain and open-pored texture. Its light golden to soft tan hues lend themselves beautifully to a variety of finishes, from modern matte to traditional satin. Durable and timeless, White Oak pairs well with both contemporary and rustic designs, offering a clean, neutral base that highlights its natural beauty.
Cherry (Prunus Serotina)
Cherry is celebrated for its warm, reddish hues and smooth, satiny texture. Over time, Cherry wood develops a rich patina, deepening its color and enhancing its beauty. Its fine grain and natural luster make it a sought-after hardwood for high-end designs. Whether left in its natural state or finished to highlight its tones, Cherry brings warmth and sophistication to both modern and traditional settings
Hard Maple (Acer Nigrum)
Maple is a favorite for its light, creamy tones and subtle grain patterns. Often associated with a clean, modern aesthetic, this dense hardwood is ideal for creating a fresh, bright look. Maple’s durability and ability to take finishes exceptionally well make it a versatile option for a wide range of applications. From its warm, golden undertones to its fine, uniform grain, Maple adds a touch of understated elegance to any space.

We understand that every design project is unique, and we’re committed to offering solutions that align with your vision. Finishes should enhance the natural beauty of the wood rather than mask it. Each finish is carefully chosen to complement the inherent qualities of the material while offering durability and timeless appeal.
Finishes
Trä Beeswax Blend
As our preferred finish, Nörska’s proprietary Trä Beeswax Blend is specifically crafted to enhance the natural beauty and grain of the wood. This eco-friendly finish not only nourishes the timber but also provides a soft, matte sheen that highlights the organic character of each piece. Sustainably sourced and environmentally conscious, our beeswax blend ensures that every product maintains a smooth, natural feel while offering durable protection. This signature finish embodies our commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability, making it the ideal choice for showcasing the innate charm of our hardwoods.
Bleach
For a light, modern aesthetic, our bleaching process desaturates and lightens the natural wood tones through three coats, creating a clean, crisp look. This finish is perfect for bright, airy spaces and contemporary designs that call for a subtle, minimalist palette.
Shou Sugi Ban (Flame-Chared)
Involves burning wood with fire without combusting the whole piece. Japan has practiced this method for hundreds of years. A striking layer of black carbon is formed, providing protection to the wood. While charring wood might seem counterintuitive, it makes it stronger and more durable. By coating the carbon layer with our natural beeswax blend, moisture is wicked, sealing the wood grain.
Stain
Our custom stains allow us to achieve a range of tones, from warm and rich to cool and subdued, while still showcasing the natural grain of the wood. We also offer the option to work closely with clients to match specific stain colors, ensuring that each piece aligns perfectly with their design vision. This process ensures that every piece can be tailored to complement its surrounding environment.
Our carefully curated wood types and finishes reflect Nörska’s commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and design. Let the natural beauty of Nörska’s lighting solutions elevate your space with timeless elegance and personal charm.
